Summary: Five red ochre human figures on the the ceiling of an elevated shelter (as well as another two motifs) along the Western Ridge in the Blue Labyrinth.

Not far from an Aboriginal rock art shelter containing only charcoal motifs (Western Ridge Charcoal Frieze), this elevated shelter contains a number of red ochre figures.

The most distinct motifs are a line of five human figures; four are stencils and the one in the middle is solid (possibly a koradji, or medicine-man).

Some of the figures appear to have red ochre lines behind them, which are not readily visible without image enhancement (but they may be natural colouration).

Nearby is another human figure, with upraised arms.

There is also a partial hand stencil.

Aboriginal Sites by National Park

Located to the north-west of Sydney, just south of the Dharug and Yengo National Parks, Maroota has a high concentration of (known) Aboriginal sites. Many more Aboriginal heritage sites are located in the Marramarra National Park. The original inhabitants of the area were the Darug people.
Over 40 sites have been recorded within the park; many were located along the river bank and were flooded by the building of the weir in 1938.
