Summary: Shelter above a tributary of Linden Creek, which has a small number of Aboriginal rock art motifs in charcoal

Located above a tributary of Linden Creek is a deep and tall shelter, which contains Aboriginal rock art.

The charcoal art is spread across a small section of the sandstone wall of the shelter; it’s not clear what the figures represent.

The site also contains artefacts: this stone tool is not from any of the rocks found locally.

Aboriginal Sites by National Park

Over 40 sites have been recorded within the park; many were located along the river bank and were flooded by the building of the weir in 1938.
Located to the north-west of Sydney, just south of the Dharug and Yengo National Parks, Maroota has a high concentration of (known) Aboriginal sites. Many more Aboriginal heritage sites are located in the Marramarra National Park. The original inhabitants of the area were the Darug people.
