Devils Throat (part of Alcatraz Canyon) drops 15m through a shaft in the cliffs before pouring out a slot in the rocks. It’s unique waterfall and swimming spot.
Australia’s third highest peak, Mount Twynam offers sweeping views over the Main Range and beyond. It’s reached by a pleasant day walk from Guthega or Charlotte Pass.
Mount Townsend (2,209m) can be reached as a day-walk from Thredbo or Charlotte Pass, or as part of a multi-day bushwalk. Once thought to have been Australia’s highest peak, it offers spectacular views from the summit trig station.
Offering spectacular 360-degree views from the trig point at the end of a narrow ridge, Mount Sentinel in the Kosciuszko National Park can be reached as day trip from Charlotte Pass.
