Summary: Although it's located only a few hundred metres from the Pennine Way on the Kinder Scout plateau, The Edge Trig is infrequently visited.

One of three trig points on the Kinder Scout plateau (the other two being the popular Kinder Low trig and the Edale Moor trig), The Edge trig was a primary trigonometric station.

The trig station is in fairly good condition; lying next to the white concrete pillar is an older concrete trig that has fallen to the ground.

There are sweeping rather than spectacular views from the trig station over the Kinder Scout plateau.

Getting to The Edge Trig

There are a few routes you can take to the trig point; from Snake Road or Hayfield (Bowden Bridge) it’s about 9km (5.6 miles) return. If you’re approaching the Edge Trig from the Pennine Way trail, it’s only a few hundred metres of easy walking from the south. The Kinder Scout Mass Trespass hike passes this point (and Kinder Low) on a 17.6km (11 mile) loop.
