There are many waterfalls in every Australian state, although the most spectacular drops are along the eastern seaboard – the Blue Mountains (NSW), Waterfall Way near Dorrigo (NSW), Lamington National Park (QLD) and Cairns region (QLD) are some of the best places to go chasing easily-accessible waterfalls.

Karrinbano Falls is a very small cascade along the West Canungra Creek, on the West Canungra Creek Circuit bushwalk.

Lovers Jump Falls is a small and secluded waterfall near Turramurra. It's accessed by a steep and informal track.

Malanda Falls (Tutamonlin) is a wide waterfall with a popular man-made swimming pool beneath the falls. Located just over an hour south of Cairns, it's very easy to get to.

A small and infrequently visited waterfall along Meeks Gully, which is best viewed after heavy rain.

A hidden pool and waterfall below Manly Dam, Mermaid Pool was named after the girls who would go skinny dipping here in the evenings during the Great Depression.

Rainbow Falls (Gudda Gumoo) is a spectacular and deep waterhole in Blackdown Tableland National Park, which is below a 40m tall waterfall. The waterhole and falls is reached by a 4.8km return walk.

Woolshed Falls cascades 15m over a series of granite ledges in the Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park. The waterfall was also significant in Victoria's goldrush history.
